As reported at Formula1.com, the McLaren appeal has been rejected. The reason given is not that they were wrong, only that they were not allowed to appeal. Therefore, Williams and BMW get to break the rules with no retribution, and Ferrari get another world championship handed to them by the FIA. Grandprix.com has a good line on this story. Formula 1 is getting to be a joke because of the FIA’s mis-management and favouritism. Williams and BMW’s should have been disqualified from the Brazilian GP because they broke the rules on fuel temperature and gained an advantage from the breach. Hamilton should not have been moved up, and therefore Kimi would have retained the drivers championship. Instead, the FIA said it was a non-event. Ridiculous.

Congratulations to Kimi for winning the Brazilian Grand prix and, against the odds, the drivers championship. Given that he won the most races this year (6) he deserves the championship. Congratulations also go to Lewis Hamilton for coming in second in his rookie year. Now, for 2008, can the FIA get out of micro-managing the series. In addition, can they please reinstate team rules. Formula 1 is a team sport and therefore, team rules should be allowed. Does anyone not believe that Ferrari used team orders (against the rules) to have Massa come second and allow Kimi to win the race. They have all but admitted it. In reality, they should be disqualified, and the championship given to Lewis Hamilton, but that would be ridiculous. Team rules should be allowed.

After all of his whining in China about inequality, and his slamming of the McLaren team, he is now expecting equality. Obviously he didn’t think he had a chance of winning the drivers championship before the China Grand Prix and so he believed he had nothing to lose by slamming the team. Now that he has a chance, he is demanding equality. I was an Alonso fan, but given his attitude and approach this year he has completely turned me off.
